VentusAR 5.1 Released

Today we released VentusAR v5.1 into the app stores.

The release includes many new features, bug fixes and performance improvements across Wind, Grid, Solar and Building domains. These include umbrella’s showing the extents of cumulative wind projects, advanced lighting controls and support for Netherlands projects.

Cumulative Umbrellas

The cumulative umbrella’s show the spread and distance of any cumulative projects shown in the visualisation. These are shown on tablet screen and on PDF output.

VentusAR 4.5 Released

We are delighted to announce that this morning we released the latest version of VentusAR v4.5.

The release includes the ability to assess and visualise Building projects, drawing conductors between towers and wood poles in grid projects and transparency controls for the models and wirelines.

Buildings

We are particularly excited about being able to visualise buildings within our new domain. There are three type of building models available in VentusAR that can be added to a project: cuboid, pitched roof and default model. Each of the building types can be parameterised with the length, width and height in the portal and the model will be the building drawn accordingly.

Grid

Transmisson150-e1438175441149VentusAR 4.5 now has the ability to view conductors from tower to tower.

When the towers are set up in the portal, the conductors will automatically be added and viewable in Fly Through and My View.

 Other new features

  • Relocation can now be done using postcodes. You can download the Gazetteer database, enter the postcode and use this to relocate.
  • Users can now adjust the transparency levels of both models and the terrain wirelines in all visualisation modes of VentusAR. This feature helps to align the camera feed to the terrain when everything has become congested.
  • A status bar has been added underneath the map to show the current location and accuracy of the internal GPS. This helps us to understand where the iPad is and how good a GPS signal it has. The conditions to allow user to open My View (Camera) or wireline have been re-worked to make them a bit more useful.
  • New sliders have been added to allow the wireline and the model opacity to be controlled in the visualisation mode.

Further information on VentusAR 4.5 can be found in the release notes for iPad, Android and the Portal

VentusAR 4.0 is Released

This morning we released the latest version of VentusAR v4.0. This release brings the ability to use VentusAR to quickly visualise ground-mounted solar farms and transmission towers.

We are particularly excited about being able to visualise solar arrays as we have seen a lot of expansion in the renewables industry into solar planning & development.

Solar

solar150-e1438175420529VentusAR now includes two default solar panel models. These 3D models have textures to make them look photo-realistic and have dimensions of 9m x 4m x 2.6m and 18m x 4m x 2.6m. They have a slope of 25 degrees and face south. We have been using these in trials with existing clients – here’s what they had to say about it.

“We have been trialling the Solar Ventus model for about 8 weeks, so far we have submitted 3 projects into planning utilising the app to produce the visualisations. The app has allowed us to produce visualisations from a single platform, instead of combining a number of graphics packages, significantly reducing the time taken to get the end product. The quality of the model has improved significantly following input from GCR and fast follow up from the Linknode Team.” Rob Collin, Green Cat Renewables

“It is a brilliant and useful piece of kit. We have used it on a number of projects to indicate visibility from a range of viewpoints. We will be using it as part of our consultations to help members of the public visualise our solar parks. It has also helped in our design process, letting us recognise and minimise visual effects”  Ben Checkley, Good Energy

Transmission

Transmisson150-e1438175441149

With the expansion from wind turbines, we have also introduced the ability to assess the landscape visual impact of transmission towers. The process of creating a transmission visualisation is the same simple process that VentusAR for wind and solar users follow. A 3D model is placed at a coordinate, then the visualisation models allow viewing in My View, Fly Through and Gallery.

Wind

onshore150-e1438175454732As always we are constantly adding performance improvements to VentusAR for the benifit of all our customers. This time we have addresses a series of minor issues and customer driven efficiencies.

See the full release notes for portal, iPad and Android at ventusar.com.

Bespoke Models

It doesnt stop there! The technology that we use to generate these visualisations is easy to reuse. We are currently trialling a few other rural structures in VentusAR  – please feel free to get in touch if you want to try out any other models for your projects.

Pricing Changes

All our existing customers will automatically have their license upgraded to visualise the new Solar and Transmission domains for free.

New VentusAR customers will get one domain (Wind, Solar or Transmission) as part of the initial subscription with additional domains available for purchase. See the pricing page for full details.

VentusAR v3.0 Released

We are delighted to announce that over the weekend, we released VentusAR v3.0 for Android and iPad (plus associated portal updates).

This is a significant feature release. VentusAR now has the added ability to create PDF output from images to comply with SNH guidance. Proudly, we estimate that photomontages can be created in VentusAR in just two hours – significantly shortening the time and expense for each one created. The aim is to make image assessment more inclusive and cheaper within the planning process.

Output_Image_To_PDF_Sample

We recommend you update to VentusAR v3.0 to take advantage of these new features.

For the mobile tablet, new features include:

  • Panorama viewer
  • Improved gallery sync
  • Public presentation mode

For the portal, major enhancements include:

  • Redesigned media tab to allow access to the new types of image (panorama, wireline, photomontage etc)
  • Enhanced PDF tab (allows PDFs to be managed more efficiently)
  • Enhanced viewpoint functions (allows viewpoints to be renamed / deleted)

Creating SNH compliant PDFs is a complicated business, and over the coming days and weeks we will document the process here on our blog. However if you would prefer a personal introduction to how the process works, please get in touch with us on 0141 559 6170 or email hello@ventusar.com
